This might have been a last straw. People nationwide, possibly worldwide, often can’t hear another person speak because of that mask. The Golden Corral may have been hit by food shortages and people just wanting to get out to enjoy life again. There may have been a lack of courtesy, people cutting others off. Another diner thought he should have received his food first due to length of cooking.
It boiled over at the Golden Corral
Brawls happened in the wild west. Things were settled differently then. Frustrations got out of control at this Pennsylvania restaurant. The fight might have started over the restaurant running out of steak.
Punches and chairs flew. One man was heard screaming, “All I wanted was some steak!” A former employee spoke up. Dylan Becker said, “I’ve never seen nothing like that in Golden Corral before. From what I heard it was over steak, apparently somebody cut in line.”
The Corral might have had a shortage
A friend of Becker, Gaven Lauletta, spoke up, “There was a shortage of steak and two parties were involved and one family cut in front of another family. They were taking their time and they ran out of steak and it got into a heated exchange at the tables.”
Another customer, Alexis Rios, was close to where the brawl started and said it was because of the masks, “With COVID right now, mask and everything, nobody can hear nobody sometimes. There’s a lot of commotion in there, the cooks behind there are talking, nobody can hear nobody. You have to speak up loud…I grabbed a chair to defend myself, and then sooner or later that was it.” If you can’t hear somebody, there’s no communication.
Corral cooking
Rios mentioned a customer thought he should have received his steak first because his order would take less time to cook, “(The cook is) trying to understand what you want and give you what you want, I had a rare steak, which is a lot faster to cook than a well-done steak. That’s why I got my steak first.”
The Golden Corral put out a statement, “We notified the local authorities, and they are investigating the incident. Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported. The safety of our guests and co-workers is our top priority.”
