New York City is a sanctuary but not for the residents and police. If illegal immigrants want to come in and cause problems, they can help themselves. Saturday night, two NYPD officers were attacked by migrants in Time Square. The officers initially asked the group to be on their way when a scuffle broke out. While officers struggled with one man, others saw their chance and ganged up, causing cuts and bruises.
New York policies allow this
All five attackers were eventually arrested but not held. Right back out to offend again, regardless that law enforcement officers were assaulted.
One of the suspects has two other cases against him, 24 year old Yorman Reveron. In November Reveron attacked a Nordstrom Rack employee that tried to keep him from shoplifting. The employee was pushed, punched and bit. Reveron also attacked a loss prevention officer in the Herald Square Macy’s.

New York representatives are silent
In 2022 Thomas Decker was the field office director for Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s enforcement and removal operations. He had been quoted as wondering what it was going to take before elected officials saw what the sanctuary status does to the community.
“I don’t know what it will take for the representatives of New York City to see that keeping their sanctuary city policies are dangerous to the residents of this great city and, in some cases, deadly. Their policies continue to shield criminal aliens, allowing them to seek refuge in NYC communities and allows them to continue to break the laws of this country, which threaten the lives and safety of its citizens. At some point, the lives and safety of the residents of NYC has to matter over the agendas of the politicians.”

New York City two years ago
Since then, 172,000 migrants have been added due to President Joe Biden’s open door policies. It stands to reason lawlessness from migrants has increased. Almost 100 migrants have become pickpockets. One group recently targeted patrons at a bar in Greenwich Village.
In another case, their behavior caused problems. Residents near the Floyd Bennett Field shelter in Brooklyn have complained of disorderly conduct by the migrants that live there. Problems have also been reported at the intake shelter at the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
