On Monday, a woman from Chicago was arrested for reportedly sending emails threatening to shoot Donald Trump and Barron Trump.
According to the US Attorney’s Office in Illinois, Tracy Marie Fiorenza is facing charges after sending an email in May that stated she would “shoot Donald Trump Sr AND Barron Trump straight in the face at any opportunity I get!”
The email was sent to the head of an educational institution in Palm Beach County, Florida where Trump has his primary residence.
In June, Fiorenza allegedly sent another email containing similar threats. Barron Trump is 17 years old and is the son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania.
At this time there have been no comments from Ms. Fiorenza or her representatives regarding the incident.
Recent reports show that political violence across America has skyrocketed since the 1970s and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon.
Donald Trump is currently fighting numerous criminal and civil cases all over America ranging from New York to Georgia with trials starting as early as October this year as he seeks re-election for 2024.
Incidents such as these highlight just how dangerous political extremism can become if left unchecked or allowed to fester under certain circumstances.
It also serves as a reminder of just how polarized our nation has become when people are so willing to take violent action against those who disagree with them politically.
No matter which way you lean on various issues we should all be able to agree that making threats of violence against anyone – let alone someone running for office – should not be tolerated in any form by society at large nor by our government officials who are charged with protecting us from it.
