Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is trying to block the congressional inquiry Rep. Jim Jordan filed regarding the Trump case so Bragg filed a lawsuit against him. Jordan subpoenaed former assistant DA Mark Pomerantz in reference to sitting for a deposition. President Trump last week pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Bragg’s lawsuit has an April 19 hearing.
Jordan wants the truth
We all do. Bragg said Jordan’s attack would cause “imminent irreparable harm if the secret and privileged material is compelled to be disclosed.”
It’s understandable Bragg would make it look like Jordan’s request is out of line. Jordan wants Pomerantz to sit for a deposition that’s part of the Judiciary panel’s investigation. This is all part of the case.

Bragg put out a statement
“Chairman Jordan’s subpoena is an unconstitutional attempt to undermine an ongoing New York felony criminal prosecution and investigation. As our complaint details, this is an unprecedented, illegitimate interference by Congress that lacks any legal merit and defies basic principles of federalism.” He needs to make Jordan look bad.
Bragg is suing Pomerantz as well to “to protect the District Attorney’s Office’s interests and privileges and in light of the District Attorney’s Office’s instruction to Mr. Pomerantz not to provide any information or materials relating to his work in the District Attorney’s Office in response to the subpoena.”
Jordan tweeted

Pomerantz isn’t commenting on any of it. Bragg continues that Jordan is attacking him. The lawsuit said he was “making demands for confidential documents and testimony from the District Attorney himself as well as his current and former employees and officials.”
