French President Emmanuel Macron is trying to make citizens uncomfortable enough without the shot so they’re forced into it to do anything. After recent news of other countries lifting all mandates, this doesn’t make you look good. Macron said if you’re what he considers irresponsible, then you’re not a citizen. Maybe time to leave. Proof of having recovered from COVID is now required to enter a number of places.
If the French can leave
Maybe it’s time. Of all things, your leader shouldn’t blatantly say he wants to “piss off” a section of his country.
Previously, those who are unvaccinated needed to just present a negative COVID test. That’s not enough anymore.
The French people
Are going to be faced with this til the end. Macron spoke with the Le Parisien newspaper, “I’m not for pissing off the French … Now the unvaccinated, I really want to piss them off. And so, we’re going to keep doing it, until the end. This is the strategy. I’m not going to put them in jail, I’m not going to forcibly vaccinate them, and so, you have to tell them: from January 15, you will no longer be able to go to the restaurant, you will no longer be able to have a drink, go for a coffee, to the theatre, you will no longer go to the movies.”
If you’re not going to cooperate you should probably leave. Macron said those who refuse “undermine the strength of a nation. When my freedom threatens that of others, I become irresponsible. An irresponsible person is no longer a citizen.”
The French have a choice
His conservative opponent Marine Le Pen didn’t hide his disgust. He thought Macron was “unworthy of his office” saying the unvaccinated are “second class citizens”.
The vaccine passport is a current requirement for the French along with a few other restrictions approved by Parliament and the Constitutional Council just last week. Many have reported that the Omicron variant is mild but easier to transmit.
