Conflict between former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and the current Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has erupted over the response to the pandemic. Apparently, Lake made some assertions about DeSantis’ approach on social media, which prompted Rapid Response Director for DeSantis’ 2024 campaign Christina Pushaw to fight back, stating her statements were “completely insane lies.”
Lake had appeared on the Patrick Bet-David Podcast where she compared DeSantis’ response to that of California Gov. Gavin Newsom. She made a series of claims against him which included forcing vaccines and face masks onto children, as well as shutting down beaches in Florida.
When Bet-David questioned her regarding the forced vaccination claim, she doubled down by asserting that he did indeed force vaccinations upon people and kids alike.
For the record Kari Lake started this by telling completely insane lies about @RonDeSantis Covid response on @PBDsPodcast.

Pushaw immediately rebutted these claims with an open question posed to Lake on Twitter: “Kari if you’re reading this on your burner, please ask Trump why he gave Fauci an award on his last day in office.”
This was followed up with a Tweet from another user who pointed out how they had taken their daughter to one of Florida’s open beaches during much of COVID without having ever put her in a mask, effectively disproving many of Lake’s claims about DeSantis’ approach to containing the virus in his state.

While there is no denying that Governor DeSantis has come under fire from both sides of the aisle for his handling of pandemic related matters in his state, it appears that Kari Lake’s claims may be exaggerated at best or false altogether.
While it is true that DeSantis implemented measures such as shutting down certain beaches and requiring face masks in public spaces, it is not accurate to claim that he forced vaccinations on people or children – which was one of Lake’s core allegations against him.
