Joe Biden came up with a scheme for asylum that even Democrats are furious with. Not only is it unpopular, it won’t work. Joe doesn’t seem to mind. He wants to stop bothering judges with making the decision and let everyone be processed into citizens over the next 90 days.
Streamline asylum with magic
Imperial Leader Joe Biden waved his magic pen and declared asylum officially streamlined. All of his handlers wish it was that easy. Democrats are in damage control mode while the spin doctors furiously work to cook up a prescription for the media.
He meant well but his mind is slipping, Karine Jean-Pierre didn’t say. Her whole job is to say nothing and say it forcefully. New York Post is calling it only the “latest setback” for the regime.
They had a pilot program running since May. One which “lets asylum officers — rather than immigration judges — determine whether a migrant has a case to stay in America.”

The whole idea, they admit, is to “shrink the wait time” for decisions “from years to as little as 90 days.” Advocates hate it more than conservatives. Liberals complain that fast of a track “doesn’t leave enough time for applicants to hire a lawyer and build their case.”
Democrat critics are whining that “an adverse decision can be appealed, leaving applicants stuck in backlogged immigration courts that are almost two million cases behind.”
Another problem that they avoid mentioning is that the migrants aren’t having any better luck getting asylum from the bureaucrats than they get from the judges. Rather than attack that head on, they go in from the side.
Fail no matter what
This program is doomed to fail, progressives complain, “because even if an asylum officer finds that they don’t have a claim to asylum, then the people get to appeal it.” Brandon Judd was hopping up and down about that.
Biden he says, “has launched a new program to streamline the asylum process for migrants arriving in the U.S.” but it’s making Democrats look like idiots. Well, like even bigger idiots.
“Why are we even setting up this step? Now, all we’re doing is prolonging the process because every single person is going to appeal it. This is a stupid rule. It makes absolutely no sense.”
They don’t mention that data “shows that of the 100 asylum seekers who have gone through the shorter process, 24 have been granted asylum. That tracks closely with the regular asylum process, in which the denial rate is 73% nationwide.”
Even with several different pathways to asylum available, wait time on a final decision remains “definitely years.” Its frustrating when immigrants’ lawyers prep for years then get their trial moved three days before its scheduled.
The fast track pilot program was only used at the South Texas Detention Complex in Pearsall, and a Houston immigration center. So far, this fiscal year, the border has been overrun by 2.2 million illegals who were counted. At least another half million got through without being tagged.
