Independence Day weekend is always filled with BBQs and fireworks.
This is how Americans have celebrated this national holiday for decades.
In some parts of the country, half of that equation is no longer true.

Nobody complains when Jeff Bezos plays astronaut and sends a rocket into space.
Set off some fireworks, however, and people go nuts over climate change and the environment.
That is what is preventing cities along the California coastline from being able to properly celebrate Independence Day this year.
The L.A. Regional Water Quality Control Board now has a fireworks permit rule in place that is clamping down on displays due to what they are claiming are pollutants that would impact local water supplies.
This all got started when the Coastal Environmental Rights Foundation (CERF) brought a lawsuit against Long Beach’s Big Bang on the Bay.
It alleged that a previous fireworks display violated the Clean Water Act.
Livia Borak Beaudin, one of the lead attorneys for CERF, stated, “I get that there are some people who are going to be upset about their firework show being canceled. But it can go forward.
“It just has to be regulated to do as much as you can to minimize environmental damage.”
Pyro Spectaculars CEO Jim Souza responded, “We cannot and will not risk the safety of our staff and the public to comply with the restrictive regulations.
“The water board instituted the new regulations quickly and unilaterally, with little input from us, one of the largest and most experienced firework show producers in the nation.”
So, no fireworks display along the coast this year.
This is a complete and utter joke.
How many private jet flights has Governor Newsom taken over the last few months to attack Governor DeSantis and governors of other red states?
How many private flights have Buttigieg and Kerry taken since Biden took office?
Then, as I noted above, there are these private space flights that are taking place, but nobody seems to have a problem with them.
Fire off some rockets to celebrate this nation’s independence, suddenly everyone has a problem with it.
It is utterly sickening how unpatriotic this country is becoming.
