They’re whining it’s not “balanced”. The American Federation of Government Employees plus two left wing non profits have filed suit against Trump and the Office of Budget and Management. The suit against DOGE says AFGE’s president, Everett Kelley, asked that a representative of the union be appointed because “they know how government works”. The whole point of the committee is to streamline.
DOGE is reform
There will be few, if any, lovers of big government included. The suit complained that a lawfare lawyer Norm Eisen was flatly excluded with the explanation that “we have no room in our administration for Democrats.”
The new committee is supposedly an advisory entity and as such is subject to Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). This requires that it have balanced views with meetings and materials open to the public.
Musk is in charge of DOGE
It’s “partnering with the White House and Office of Management & Budget to drive large scale structural reform.” The liberal groups started piling on. The American Federation of Teachers and American Public Health Association were among at least four other liberal groups that filed another suit.
Their lawsuit read, “DOGE does not currently have an individual who will speak on behalf of government workers and their interests.” The problem is teachers work for local governments, not federal and the AFT is known for supporting Democrat interests.
Democrats trying to slow it down
Their suit said, “FACA requires that any advisory committee, including DOGE, be ‘fairly balanced in terms of the points of view represented and the functions to be performed by the advisory committee.’ … DOGE’s stacked membership, far from being fairly balanced, reveals that only one viewpoint is represented: that of ‘small-government crusaders.’”
It complained about taxpayer money they’ll lose. It’s “hefty price tag for the American people,” and that it has “a goal of slashing between $500 billion and $2 trillion in federal spending.” Liberals don’t like the secrecy either. “DOGE’s use of Signal threatens to irreparably deprive Plaintiffs and the American public of records to which they are entitled under FACA.”
