Biden isn’t going to stop calling Trump a threat to democracy, regardless that it almost got Trump killed. The calls for unity and to tone down the talk were all hollow, all just words. The president is set to resume his attack in Nevada. Strategies have told him for months that he shouldn’t be calling Trump a threat. Polls show that independents believe the president is the greater threat to democracy than Trump.
The president is tone deaf
The New York Times said,
“And even as Mr. Biden focuses on the economy, his administration has made clear that it will continue to frame Mr. Trump as a threat to democracy and the civil liberties of Black and Latino Americans. But after a would-be assassin’s bullet grazed Mr. Trump’s ear at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, Mr. Biden will be treading newly perilous ground. Although the gunman had no known strongly held political beliefs, some Republicans have accused Mr. Biden’s rhetoric of contributing to the violence. Mr. Biden defended his descriptions of his rival on Friday, and Democrats have balked at the criticism from allies of a former president who warned there would be a “bloodbath” if he lost the election in November.”
Strategists have said there are other things to talk about such as the economy and the open border. There are concerns as to whether the president’s strategy will work after the assassination attempt.
Both sides of the aisle have asked for inflammatory words to be toned down but Biden isn’t listening. The call for unity was just a set of words with no meaning behind them.
He spoke from the White House
“I want to speak to you tonight about the need for us to lower the temperature in our politics. We’re neighbors. We’re friends, coworkers, citizens. Most importantly, we are fellow Americans, we must stand together. We can’t allow this violence to be normalized. I believe politics ought to be an arena for peaceful debate.”
But you can’t debate. You proved that recently.
Biden has leveled attacks against Trump for years, among other things, calling him an “actual Hitler”. This atmosphere lead to the attack against his life and it may happen again.
Ben Shapiro spoke with Piers Morgan
Continuing to call Trump Hitler increases the likelihood of Trump being attacked again. Shapiro said,
“The moral argument in favor of then getting rid of that person in order to save the country is fairly strong. But the whole point is that no one actually believes that. That’s where the dishonesty comes in, Democrats don’t actually believe that Donald Trump is Hitler any more than Republicans who say that Joe Biden, if he is re-elected, would end the country. … Nobody actually believes that because if you actually believed that, there is an actual moral case for you to pick up a gun and go do something about it.”
Biden said the language needs to be toned down but neglected toning down his own language. Biden’s campaign constantly speaks about how bad Trump is.
Shapiro concluded with,
“President Biden gives a speech last night in which he talks about how we need to cool it down, and all I wanted from him was for him to say, ‘including me.’ Just say, ‘including me,’ The reality of him not saying that, it makes it sound like, ‘Well, now I’m diffusing responsibility among everyone without taking any for myself.’ And I would hope that everybody would take a look in the mirror at this point and say, ‘including me.’”
