Several days ago, it was announced that the impeachment inquiry would not be making a recommendation until next year.
When Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) made the announcement, many media outlets made it sound like the GOP had come up empty.
Speaker Johnson (R-LA) made it quite clear that was far from the case.
Political Corruption
This more or less comes down to Johnson wanting to make sure all the ducks are lined up.
He has to know that moving an impeachment over the Senate is likely to fail unless they have a true smoking gun against Biden.
His comments on this made it appear that is still lacking, which is what they are trying to fix.
Johnson stated, “At this stage, our impeachment inquiry has already shown the corrupt conduct of the president’s family and that he and White House officials have repeatedly lied about his knowledge and involvement in his family’s business activities.
“It has also exposed the tens of millions of dollars from foreign adversaries being paid to shell companies controlled by the president’s son, brother and their business associates.
“Now, the appropriate step is to place key witnesses under oath and question them under the penalty of perjury to fill gaps in the record.
“I commend the good work of Chairmen Comer, Jordan and Smith. As we move forward toward an inflection point in this critical investigation, they have my full and unwavering support.”
In order to get Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) to move this forward, they are going to have to have overwhelming evidence.
To you and I, that evidence already exists, but Democrats are ready to defend Biden to the death on this one, so I have no problem with Johnson pushing this back in order to get more evidence to bury Joe, or at least prove to the American people that he is corrupt.
