On Wednesday, September 13, 42-year-old former NBA player Brandon Hunter suddenly collapsed and died.
Hunter was an inspiration to all and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to the sport.
The former NBA player collapsed during a hot yoga session in Orlando, Florida.
No cause of death was immediately released.
His mother-in-law Carolyn Cliett expressed her shock, saying “It was hot yoga, and he did it regularly…We’re just shocked.”
Hunter had been selected by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2003 NBA draft and last appeared in an NBA game in 2005 as a member of the Orlando Magic.
The franchise’s official X account referred to him as a “Celtic for life” while his former team issued a statement saying they were “terribly saddened to learn of the loss of our former teammate.”
Although he only played 67 games in total for various teams in Europe and America, Brandon Hunter made an everlasting impact on those he encountered along his journey.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio he attended college at Ohio University where he became Division I college basketball’s leading rebounder for 2002-03 season – cementing his place among Ohio Basketball Legends forevermore.
His former coach Tim O’Shea described him as “the best player [he] ever had the good fortune of coaching” due to how much he had matured from a tough childhood into adulthood through athletics alone – something which is truly inspiring for us all today.
Brandon Hunter has left behind an incredible legacy that will continue inspire athletes everywhere.
