Pennsylvania pro-life activist Mark Houck has announced his candidacy for the First District of Pennsylvania congressional seat currently held by moderate Republican Brian Fitzpatrick.
Houck was acquitted after being raided by the FBI in September 2022 in relation to an October 2021 incident where he told a Planned Parenthood escort to stop harassing his then 12-year-old son while they were praying 50 feet from the clinic’s entrance.
In light of this experience, the father plans to bring faith, family, and freedom back into focus during his campaign.
In September 2022, Mark Houck faced off with Bruce Love who had been verbally harassing Houck’s son outside of a Planned Parenthood clinic in October 2021.
As a result of this confrontation, the FBI raided Houck’s home and he was eventually acquitted.
This case has inspired him to pursue higher office as part of his mission to protect families from similar situations occurring again in the future.
He has vowed not to “mudsling” against incumbent Rep Fitzpatrick but instead run on an ethical platform based on preserving freedoms and rights for citizens across Pennsylvania.
Houck’s platform includes promoting school choice, addressing fatherlessness and funding a strong military without political agendas along with protecting citizens’ rights and freedoms.
The main issue that will be pushed during this campaign however is abortion – an issue that can easily divide conservative voters throughout the state.
While most conservatives are pro-life or at least anti-abortion there is still disagreement amongst them when it comes to when life begins or if certain exceptions should be made like rape or incest cases.
Consequently it remains uncertain how successful Houck’s campaign will be given these differences among conservatives in general as well as Fitzpatrick’s track record with hardcore pro-lifers according to one Republican consultant interviewed by LifeSite News.
