House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy sent a message to Attorney General Merrick Garland that his calendar needs to be devoted to testimony before Congress after the Republicans win power back. There was no need for this raid and he’ll have to answer for what he’s done. Classified material was supposed to be at Mar-a-Lago. Trump delayed returning several boxes back to the National Archives.
McCarthy is disgusted
McCarthy said, “I’ve seen enough. The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization. When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned. Attorney General Garland, preserve your documents and clear your calendar.”
There was a grand jury investigation in May regarding Trump and whether that classified material was handled incorrectly. Normally these investigations are used to see if any classified material was compromised.
McCarthy will do what he can
Republicans are calling it a “banana republic”. The prosecutors involved would need to prove that those who removed the boxes and documents knew it was against the law to do so.
Ron DeSantis was furious too. The National Archives said it removed 15 boxes from Mar-a-Lago in January that shouldn’t have been there.
McCarthy said there’s no reason for this
Trump said his home was ‘under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents’. Trump is considering running for President again even as the controversy over the 2020 election still rages.
Eric Trump was on Hannity and revealed that he had alerted his dad to the raid. The agents didn’t find anything. Eric said,
“I was the guy who got the call this morning and I called my father and let him know it happened, and I was involved all day. Welcome to politics in the 2020s. To have 30 FBI agents — actually more than that — descend on Mar-a-Lago, give absolutely, you know, no notice, go through the gates, start ransacking an office, ransacking a closet — you know, they broke into a safe. He didn’t even have anything in the safe. I mean, give me a break. This didn’t come from a local FBI field office in Palm beach, Florida. You know this came from? This came from one place and one building, and that is the White House in Washington, D.C. They want to attack a guy who they view as his greatest threat, Biden’s greatest threat.”
