The city of Chicago has allocated over one hundred million dollars to care for illegal migrants entering the city due to President Joe Biden’s broken border.
Despite this, there is a lack of transparency regarding how these funds are being used and distributed.
The citizens of Chicago are concerned about what decisions have been made and how their own resources are being utilized in response to this influx of new people into their communities.
In May, the Gateway Pundit reported that the City Council had approved $51 million in aid for illegals.
Of this amount, $47 million was slated to be used on a national staffing firm that provides personnel at shelters receiving migrants coming into Chicago.
These funds were intended to help with housing and providing basic necessities for these newly arrived individuals.
This July, it was also reported by CBS 2 that they filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in February seeking information on how exactly the city had spent over $100 million caring for these immigrants.
The request was denied access by the Office of Budget & Management who claimed there were no records available.
Residents from Woodlawn – an area located on the South Side of Chicago – have expressed concern about the increased crime rates taking place due to illegal immigration in their neighborhood.
They feel harassed by those coming into their community and are worried about how it will impact them as well as future generations living there if actions aren’t taken soon.
To make matters worse, some migrants have even been housed inside police stations due to overcrowding issues caused by all those arriving in such a short period of time.
The citizens deserve more transparency from their government officials so they can better understand how taxpayer money is being allocated when dealing with such an important issue like immigration reform and border security measures put in place by Joe Biden’s administration.
Moreover, local communities should not have to bear the burden associated with increased crime rates due to illegal migration or experience overcrowding within police stations because too many individuals are entering without proper documentation or authorization from authorities.
