A horrific tragedy occurred on Thursday afternoon in Malaysia when a private jet collided with a car and motorcycle during an attempted landing, leaving at least 10 people dead.
Video from the scene showed the plane heading downward sharply before impacting the ground and bursting into flames.
The sound wave from the impact was so powerful it shook a nearby surveillance camera.
According to local police chief Hussein Omar Khan, the Beechcraft Model 390 had six passengers and two crew members on board when it crashed around 2 p.m.
It had lost contact with air traffic control and ended up slamming onto a highway without making an emergency call.
The plane departed from Langkawi Island and was headed for Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport according to Malaysia’s Civil Aviation Authority, but there were no mayday calls made by the aircraft as it went down.
Jet Valet, the company which operated this flight, said it would cooperate with investigations into the accident.
Images taken at the crash site show debris scattered across a two-lane road following the impact of the accident along with emergency vehicles blocking off access to that area.
A tarp was placed over one of victim’s bodies which had been engulfed in flames after being struck by the plane upon its crash landing while riding his motorcycle.
The cause of this fatal incident remains unknown as authorities continue their investigation into what happened here today in Malaysia.
