Over in California, they really don’t care how much the reparations cost. The task force is complaining about the media coverage. For some reason even the progressive network media has a single-minded “preoccupation” with the $800 billion price tag. A bargain, Cheryl Grills scoffs. Don’t news crews understand that the multi-billion dollar price tag is the “least important” part of the program?
Reparations worth any price
Reality doesn’t matter to Democrats on California’s reparations task force. That’s why they’re complaining that the news media keeps asking them how they plan to pay for their bread and circus scheme. They intend to make every Black in San Francisco a multi-millionaire.
So what if they need 2.5 times the entire state budget for a year to do it? Likewise, so what if the state is already $22.5 billion in the hole? Making things right is priceless, they counter.
It’s really scary to consider that not only is Cheryl Grills a vocal member of the reparations task force, she’s also a clinical psychologist. Despite her qualifications as a professional shrink, conservatives say she’s totally nuts.

She went to a local outlet and complained about the way her panel is being treated in the news. The price doesn’t matter one bit, she insists.
The news crews simply must do a better job of supporting the progressive reparations goal. “We want to make sure that this is presented out in a way that does not reinforce the preoccupation with a dollar figure, which is the least important piece of this.”
Not only is she a licensed shrink, Grills has been brainwashing young minds as an instructor at Loyola Marymount University for the past 34 years.
California history
Despite the fact that California was never a slave state, Grills wants the media to get with the program and learn some history. It should be obvious to the talking heads on TV that reparations aren’t an option.
Forget about the price. “It’s important, but it’s the least important in terms of being able to get to a point in our country’s history and in California’s history where we recognize that the harm cuts across multiple areas and domains and that the repair needs to align with that.” That means $5 million apiece and not a penny less.
She’s terribly disappointed at the way she keeps hearing the price tag dragged right up in front on the news shows, ahead of the important part of the reparations story.
“$5 million is NOTHING!”

“It’s really unfortunate. I’m actually sad to see that our news media is not able to nuance better. It’s almost like, ‘What’s going to be sensational‘ as opposed to what’s important.” All everyone seems to want to focus on are the dollar signs and it isn’t helping the cause.
The Reparations Task Force “has until July 1 to deliver its final recommendations to the state legislature.” They have a whole bunch of suggestions. “Its members and experts over the past more than two years have produced thousands of pages of documentation, data and research related to various categories of alleged racial injustice.”
They’re demanding everything from axing the criminal justice system to giving all Blacks a free house. “It’s unclear how the state legislature might adopt the final recommendations after the yearslong effort.” Gavin Newsom might end up signing it in to law, quintupling everyone’s taxes and telling all the police to take a year or two off.
