There are two police officers in Nashville that should never have to buy a beer again as long as they are walking this planet.
These are the officers that went through the doors when they arrived to take out an active shooter.
They did not hesitate or wait… they went in, relied on their training, and took out the shooter.
The officers are Officer Rex Englebert and Officer Michael Collazo.
Heroes
Officer Englebert is a four-year MNPD veteran and Officer Collazo is a nine-year MNPD veteran.
A statement from the Nashville Police stated, “Chief John Drake and the men and women of the MNPD join all of Nashville in mourning today’s deaths of six innocent persons, three nine-year-olds and three adults, at the hands of an active shooter at Covenant Church/School on Burton Hills Drive.”
Hale had reportedly fired at the officers as they were approaching the building.
The officers obviously managed to get inside, then started to clear the school room-by-room until they found Hale.
Chief Drake stated, “The first call to 911 about shots being fired in the building came in at 10:13 a.m.
“Officers rushed to the campus, made entry, and began clearing the building.
“Shots were heard coming from the second level.
“It was on the second floor, in a common area, that a team of officers encountered Hale shooting (she had been firing through a window at arriving police cars).
“Two members of an officer team fired on Hale and fatally wounded her.”
Her should be used loosely, here, as it was later discovered that Hale is a transgender, a biological male.
The shooting remains under investigation and no clear-cut motive had yet to be reported.
Well done, officers, well done.
