I wish I could say that I was surprised by this story, but that would be far from the case.
Joe Biden has made a habit of appointing radicals and activists to posts during this administration.
This time, however, one of his appointments is the subject of an investigation, presenting serious security concerns.
Suspended
Rob Malley, who President Biden appointed as special envoy for Iran on Jan. 28, 2021, has been suspended.
Malley confirmed the suspension on Thursday, believing this issue will be soon resolved.
He was reportedly suspended due to an investigation being conducted into his security clearance.
Malley stated, “I have been informed that my security clearance is under review.
“I have not been provided any further information, but I expect the investigation to be resolved favorably and soon.
“In the meantime, I am on leave.”
House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) is now demanding more information from the State Department.
McCaul stated, “These reports raise serious concerns both regarding Malley’s conduct and whether the State Department misled Congress and the American public.”
He added, “While the suspension of Special Envoy Malley’s clearance is independently troubling, our concern is compounded by the State Department’s failure to respond to the Committee’s efforts to conduct oversight of its negotiations with and policy toward Iran. Since April 11, 2023, the Committee has repeatedly requested Special Envoy Malley’s testimony, which the Department has not fulfilled, despite Special Envoy Malley’s numerous press engagements dating back to May 30, 2023.”
Joe Biden has been getting hammered as of late, but if Malley ends up losing his clearance, it will be another black mark for an administration that is reeling right now.
