America First Legal is a judicial watchdog that reported on how the FBI was involved in the Mar-a-Lago raid. The Biden administration was “stunned” to hear that there might be classified documents at that location. The watchdog did its digging and found the FBI got access by a “special access request” from the White House through the DOJ. The two entities coordinated to create a pretext for a raid.
The FBI knew
A lot more than it would reveal. The AFL reported that “records obtained from our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Mar-a-Lago raid further confirm that the FBI obtained access to these records through a ‘special access request’ from the Biden White House on behalf of the DOJ.”
On August 28, 2022 the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago under the assumption that there were classified documents at the residence that shouldn’t be there. Trump was understandably not happy, calling the invasion an “assault” and noted that a safe was broken into.

The FBI worked with them
If the National Archives and Records Administration or NARA was involved in this and misled Congress, it amounts to election interference. Since the Biden White House was acting “on behalf of” the DOJ it presents legal problems.
The “special access” statute is only applicable to an incumbent President when records are needed for “the conduct of current business”. Providing records to the DOJ for a criminal investigation is not current business. Understandably, the AFL is demanding NARA turn over records related to this.

The FBI needs to stop

This government, it seems, acknowledges no limits on its power to harass, intimidate, and silence its political opponents.”
