It’s not a good idea to brag about stealing from the cartel. Things are looking grim for a man identified only as “Ramirez,” who’s now subject to an international manhunt. The FBI has one of his kidnappers in custody but don’t have high hopes of recovering much of Mr. Ramirez. They say they’re still looking, anyway. He thought he was safe on the Texas side of the border but he thought wrong.
Cartel thief still missing
The Cartel Del Noreste isn’t real happy with Mr. Ramirez, who allegedly dipped $50,000 from their profits. It’s a little premature to put him in the past tense but things aren’t looking that promising for the missing victim. The Federal Bureau of Instigation isn’t saying a whole lot other than they’re working on it.
“The FBI is unable to provide comment on this ongoing investigation.” What they can say is that they “relentlessly” pursue “all options when it comes to protecting the American people, and this doesn’t change when they are endangered across the border.”
If you happen to have information you can share with the bureau, that won’t get you tossed in a shallow grave by the cartel for telling, they have an anonymous tipline.

“The public is urged to call the San Antonio Division at (210) 225-6741 with any information regarding this investigation. Tips may also be submitted online at tips.fbi.gov.” It seems Ramirez shot his mouth off at a party. Witnesses overheard what may turn out to be his famous “last words.”
As related by local media, around “11 p.m. March 23, Ramirez was at a party at a residence in the 3400 block of Queretaro Loop in Las Americas neighborhood in south Laredo.” So far, so good.
That’s when “witnesses overheard Ramirez telling a female on the phone that he was in Laredo and that he was not in danger or afraid of her because he was in the United States.” According to the affidavit, the witness “stated that Ramirez also bragged that Ramirez stole approximately $50,000 from the Cartel Del Noreste.”
Come and get me
Ramirez must have been loaded on something at the party which loosened his tongue. He was careless enough to give “the female his location on Queretaro.” Come and get me. It didn’t take long for the cartel to do exactly that.
“At about 12:45 a.m. March 24, a blue Dodge Ram arrived at the location on Queretaro. Two to three masked men armed with firearms exited the vehicle and assaulted Ramirez. Then, they forced Ramirez into the Dodge.” He has been seen since then, once and briefly.
Authorities know that the dodge “crossed into Nuevo Laredo, Mexico at about 1:09 a.m. March 24 via the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge.” The car was “registered to Cavriales’ mother out of the 200 block of Palo de Rosa Loop by the Laredo Ranchettes area.”

They have video which shows “a male with blood on his face opening the front passenger door of the Dodge while the vehicle was in motion. The male was attempting to exit the Dodge but was pulled back inside.” The cartel hit team “then bypassed the bridge attendant and drove straight into Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.”
The woman who the Dodge was registered to told police around 11 a.m. she got a call from “Cavriales’ grandmother, who lives in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. The grandmother told the mother that Cavriales was at her home in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico sleeping and that the Dodge was parked outside her home.” Grannie said “Cavriales did not look well and that something was wrong with him.”
Police pulled him over coming through the border northward about 2:15 a.m. March 27. He spilled his guts. “In a post-arrest interview, Cavriales stated he drove the Dodge into Mexico the early morning of March 24 with a kidnapped victim, who was identified as Ramirez. Cavriales added that three other people also took part in the kidnapping. Cavriales stated that he was aware that the victim had stolen approximately $50,000 from Cartel Del Noreste.” He won’t do that again.
