A January 6 prisoner has been released from the DC jail by order of a federal judge. US Marshals did an unannounced inspection and found inhospitable conditions. Judge Royce Lamberth said conditions were “deplorable” and “beyond belief” and sent Christopher Worrell to another facility. An inmate was even being pepper sprayed and couldn’t wash it off which lead to an infection. It was inhumane.
The Judge said this isn’t right
Not in the United States. The inspection uncovered things like no water and clogged toilets. The water was shut off “for punitive reasons”.
The judge made the Marshall’s report public, saying there was, ‘zero confidence that the D.C. jail’ will provide the treatment correctly and not retaliate against Worrell,” The US Department of Corrections did things like “antagonizing detainees” and “directing detainees to not cooperate with” the US Marshals during the inspection.
The report
Among the things mentioned was “One DOC staffer was observed telling a detainee to ‘stop snitching.’” Prisoners weren’t able to have access to drinking water or to wash for days. Meals were “served cold and congealed”.
The mainstream media had put down reports of the terrible conditions as “conspiracy theories”. The media at times even praised that treatment.
The judge helped several prisoners
These are political prisoners. Some 400 had been moved. They’re facing horrible punishment for thought crimes thanks to the Biden administration.
A year ago the judge asked the Department of Justice to open a civil rights investigation and hold a couple of officials in contempt of court for sitting on Worrell’s medical treatment.
The judge was furious
Lamberth blasted,
“It’s more than just inept and bureaucratic shuffling of papers. Does no one care? Does no one follow up? I find that the civil rights of the defendant have been abused. I don’t know if it’s because he’s a January 6th defendant or not, but I find this matter should be referred to the attorney general of the United States for a civil rights investigation into whether the D.C. Department of Corrections is violating the civil rights of January 6th defendants … in this and maybe other cases.”
The report continued, “During the hearing, Lamberth said that jail officials failed to turn over critical information that was needed to approve surgery for the accused rioter’s broken wrist—even though the medical procedure was recommended four months ago.”
