Dem Mayor Caught Maskless after Reimposing Mask Mandate

Cell phones are everywhere, Mayor. New Orleans Democrat Mayor LaToya Cantrell was caught flaunting her own reinstated mask mandate at a recent party. She attended an indoor Mardi Gras event with people taking videos. Lots of them were posted online but were deleted within an hour once Fox asked about them. The mayor was with two other ladies who were also unmasked. Nobody had masks on here.

Renewed mandate

Masks were just recently reestablished January 11, 2022 for public schools and indoor places. The mayor and guests appearing maskless was obviously met with great criticism.

Don’t mandate the indoor mask when you and your party are not willing to abide by your own rule. Spokesman Beau Tidwell had to cover for her and the gathering.

The mandate isn’t perfect

Tidwell explained, “The mask guidelines and the vaccination requirement will remain in effect thru Mardi Gras. That has not changed and it will not change. Under the current guidelines, masks may be removed indoors while eating and drinking. While we did not see perfect adoption of the guidelines in every instance over the weekend, we were encouraged overall by the level of masking and vigilance we saw on the parade route and at ball events.”

There’s a fight on against the mandate. The Louisiana Supreme Court refused requests for a temporary restraining order until a fast-tracked hearing on a lawsuit could be heard.

Both are being challenged

That lawsuit is against both the vaccine and the mask mandate. Cantrell mandated that anybody older than five years old show proof of vaccination in order to enter a business.

There’s a number of people after her, over 100. The lawsuit over the mandate includes Cantrell, the New Orleans Health Department and that department’s leader, Dr. Jennifer Avegno.

Enough with the mandate

Laura Cannizzaro Rodrigue is a partner at the firm Rodrigue & Arcuri. She said, “We are happy to see the people of New Orleans finally able to return to normal and enjoy the Mardi Gras season. That is exactly what we have been advocating for. We are furious to see our so-called city leaders violating their own mask mandate all through the carnival season while demanding that ordinary citizens and children remain masked. The hypocrisy and privilege will no longer be tolerated. The silence from our state legislature is deafening. We see you, and we are coming for you.”

Tidwell shrugged it off. On February 1 he said, “The guidelines we put in place save lives.” If the mandates are dropped the lawsuit will be moot.
