ICYMI – I read a report that has me completely baffled.
With all the legal problems that Trump has had, including facing a possible indictment, his poll numbers are going up.
Not only are they going up, but he has almost doubled his lead over DeSantis from previous polls.
Big Swing
Part of me wants to think this is an outlier, but it is very reminiscent of what we saw when Trump’s home was raided by the FBI.
Trump has been hammering social media to claim his innocence in the hush money case.
On Truth Social, he recently posted, “THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”
Instead of the drama hurting Trump, it is being embraced.
The Morning Consult poll had Trump leading DeSantis 54 to 26.
In some polls, DeSantis had been within single digits, so that is a pretty significant swing.
It would appear that Republican voters are okay with a nominee that could literally have an orange jumpsuit on by the time election day rolls around.
Realistically, I do not expect this to hold, as we saw with the raid at Mar-a-Lago.
Within weeks of that raid, we saw Trump’s numbers start to go the other way. With Ron DeSantis now engaging Trump, I would suspect we will start to see polls going all over the place.
