The liberal Politico that’s been subsidized with taxpayer dollars is partially correct about how MAGA is crushing Democrats. Being partially correct is a compliment when you talk about a publication that constantly lies. Legacy media is helpless against what is happening online. The majority of swing voters now get their news from alternate media. You can’t influence people that have lost trust in you.
Democrats screaming into the wind
The DNC doesn’t have the numbers.
“[I]n the early days of Trump’s second term, [Democrats are] getting swamped. The rapid response account the DNC started in January is a fifth of the size of @RapidResponse47, the Trump White House’s account. Hakeem Jeffries, the House minority leader, has almost a million followers. But Musk, who has posted hundreds of times over the last month, has more than 217 million followers.”
Politico continued that liberal groups were leaving for Bluesky. “Some Democratic groups, like MoveOn.Org and Human Rights Campaign, are posting far less on X — if not leaving the site completely for Bluesky, a left-leaning version of X with far fewer users and nowhere the same audience reach.”
Democrats aren’t on podcasts
“Conservative personalities hold five of the top 10 podcasts on Spotify, while for liberals, only the New York Times’ columnist Ezra Klein cracks that list.” Liberals don’t know how to fix it. Politico then dropped the hammer, “[S]ome Democrats concede they are losing an asymmetrical battle with the president and his MAGA allies, where Trump and Musk have dominated online spaces over the last month. And there is no consensus among them about how to fix their rapid response problems or who’s to blame.”
Politico cannot admit to two things. First, it’s cherry picking when to compare the 1.8 million followers of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Ben Shapiro’s 9.4 million or Elon Musk’s 217 million. Former President Barack Obama with 131 million followers and dozens of celebrity activists are being selectively left out. Selena Gomez is number three worldwide with a combined following of almost 600 million.
Democrats might look outnumbered
If you cherry pick. They have the power of the legacy media, academia, the Deep State, and Hollywood. The second point is more important.
Leftists outlets aren’t tweeting out much anymore. Left leaning celebrities have backed away from politics. Progressives have gone to Bluesky as a safe space. The answer as to why is amazingly simple.
Democrats lost
They lost the national argument. They shut up or ran away because their ideas can’t survive a challenge in an open playing field. X doesn’t censure conservatives anymore.
It’s not just on X either. After decades of struggle, talk radio, social media and podcasts have finally leveled the playing field. Rabid leftists no longer control the conversation. Common sense is no longer shut down.
