The propagandists in the establishment media are impervious to humility or the truth. JD Vance faced off with Margaret Brennan on “Face The Nation”. She was equal parts smugness and ignorance but the Vice President was patient, calm and easily dismantled her claims. Brennan had asked Vance about President Trump’s recent executive order ending birthright citizenship so he elaborated, running right over her.
Vance knows his stuff
He responded to her calling our country “unique”. She thought she scored a debate point. The Vice President responded, “This is a very unique country, and it was founded by some immigrants and some settlers. But just because we were founded by immigrants doesn’t mean that 240 years later that we have to have the dumbest immigration policy in the world.”
He reminded that we need to take care of current citizens first.
“No country says that temporary visitors — their children — will be given complete access to the benefits and blessings of American citizenship. America should actually look out for the interests of our citizens first. And that means, again, if you’re here permanently and lawfully, your kid becomes an American citizen. If you’re not here permanently, if you’re not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and don’t plan to be, why would we make those people’s children American citizens permanently?”
Vance used the word “settler”
Conservatives praised him for that. One conservative, Michael Knowles, thought it was important to distinguish the first American settlers from simple immigrants.
Columnist Kurt Schlichter of Townhall.com thought Brennan would shift gears and speak of “settler genocide”. He noted that, “Have you noticed how you can never win? But you can win. You can refuse to play the game and ruthlessly exercise your power.”
Vance and the “settler” word
History has been deliberately muddled. The United States was founded by revolutionaries that were born in Britain’s American colonies. Our establishment media wants you to forget that.
Those patriots proclaimed a pledge to establish a self governing republic in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence. The Constitution was the fulfillment of that pledge in 1787. As a result, immigrants came here because the sovereign people allowed it. Oppressed masses are invited to enter legally, not sneak in and remain indefinitely.
