Attorney Mark Paoletta told lawyers for the Department of Justice that if they don’t plan to implement Trump’s agenda then it’s probably time to refresh the resume. Paoletta was Trump’s General Counsel during the first administration. He responded to a Politico article that DOJ lawyers were “terrified”. Those lawyers should go after Biden, the person who allowed Trump attacks for years.
DOJ will get cleaned
Part of the article: “Some career attorneys at DOJ are already considering heading for the exits rather than sticking around to find out whether threats from Trump and his allies are real or campaign bluster.” Paoletta pulled no punches.
He posted on X that Trump was elected for a specific agenda. Provided it’s within United States law, they needed to implement that. He listed a couple agenda items.
The DOJ will assist with these
The southern border needs to be secured. There will be mass deportations of illegals beginning with rapists and murderers. Resources will be allocated to process and clear the backlog of immigration and asylum claims. Finally, sanctuary cities will not be allowed to evade federal immigration enforcement.
Law and order needs to be restored across the country. This includes the mob violence in cities and firing soft on crime prosecutors. Lawfare and political prosecution of enemies needs to stop.
The DOJ will be allowed feedback
But ultimately the decision will not be theirs. Paoletta explained,
“Of course, no one will push them to implement flagrantly illegal actions like President Biden did with his student loan plan, where he thumbed his nose at the Supreme Court’s ruling and then tried to implement another illegal plan which was struck down. (In fact, the media was cheering on his law-breaking). I don’t recall reading any stories about career attorneys being concerned about working on this blatantly illegal action. If these career DOJ employees won’t implement President Trump’s program in good faith, they should leave. Those employees who engage in so-called ‘resistance’ against the duly-elected President’s lawful agenda would be subverting American democracy. Finally, those that take such actions would be subject to disciplinary measures, including termination.”
