Joe Biden’s ghostwriter could be in for some major legal issues if the GOP has its way.
Republicans believe that Biden may have divulged classified information to Biden’s ghostwriter.
Since he will not turn over his notes and tapes to Congress, Republicans are getting ready to slap him with a contempt charge.
Will Garland Prosecute?
Mark Zwonitzer served as Biden’s ghostwriter for his memoir, and while Biden denies having ever revealed classified information to him, Biden is a serial liar, so Republicans want proof.
Rep. Jim Jordan recently released a report on the matter, which stated, “In the weeks following the February 5, 2024, release of Special Counsel Robert K. Hur’s report, the Committee on the Judiciary (the ‘Committee’) engaged with Mark Zwonitzer to obtain a limited set of documents and records related to Special Counsel Hur’s report.
“Zwonitzer served as the ghostwriter for President Joe Biden’s memoirs and Special Counsel Hur’s report revealed that Zwonitzer possessed records that would inform potential legislative reforms.
“After Zwonitzer declined to provide the relevant documents and records, the Committee issued a subpoena on March 22, 2024, to Zwonitzer compelling the production of six specific categories of documents and records, including audio recordings and transcripts of his interviews with President Joe Biden relating to his ghostwriting work on the President’s memoirs, ‘Promise Me, Dad and Promises to Keep.’”
Garland has pursued just about every Trump ally, including contempt charges, but will he seriously consider a contempt referral that could hurt Biden?
Again, I would love to see it, but we saw how Garland acted regarding the tapes from the Special Counsel interview, so my guess is that Garland will protect Biden again here.
The clock is ticking for Republicans because it is going to be very tough to hold the House in the 2024 election.
