Those who want to take away your weapons don’t just want your firearms. They want the bows and arrows too. But mankind has hunted long before government began. And it’s more than just hunting for survival. It’s about reconnecting with your environment. Overwhelmingly, Democrats voted for a bill that would overturn Biden trying to cut off funding for school shooting sports. The vote was 424-1.
Democrats side with history
Only one, Texas Democrat Veronica Escobar, voted against the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act. The House is Republican controlled by only ten seats. They don’t agree on much of anything. Why this?
This past summer the Education Department told education groups that hunting and archery school programs would be stripped of funding. Fox news explained, “The guidance explained that the administration interpreted the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) to mean such programs can no longer receive taxpayer funds.”
Democrats voted to fund weapons
Hunter education, archery and wilderness survival courses all use weapons that are “technically dangerous”. The Education Department didn’t like that and threatened to not fund them. The “reasoning” was from a biased reading of the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the biggest source of funding of elementary and secondary education.
The BSCA supposedly made schools “safer, more inclusive and positive” after a rash of school shootings including the Uvalde, Texas 2022 shooting. You don’t ever want to hear something that makes a school “safer, more inclusive and positive”. Those are keywords to increase control.
Democrats heard an earful
The senior vice president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Lawrence Keane, fired back quickly,
“The Department of Education and Secretary Cardona are blatantly misconstruing the law to withhold funding from schools that choose to teach beneficial courses like hunter safety and archery. Congress must hold Secretary Cardona and the department accountable for violating the letter and spirit of the law to unilaterally deny America’s students access to these valuable programs as part of the Administration’s continued attacks on the Second Amendment.”
Maybe the Biden administration thinks that if shooting and archery isn’t taught to deplorable, redneck kids they’ll forget about it. They don’t take into account that these activities have been around longer than Biden has been alive. The traditions are still passed down. Even more than that, it’s an instinct. People needed to hunt to stay alive.
