Cheney Makes a Laughable Statement After Her Failure

Liz Cheney was squashed like a bug in her primary and she’s considering a Presidential run. She wants to do what she can to keep Trump out of the White House. In her concession speech she actually doubled down on what caused her defeat. She promised to fight Trump. Like Lincoln, she thought that although she was defeated, she’d rise from the ashes to help protect our constitutional republic.

Cheney needs another job

And it shouldn’t be President. She was asked on the “Today Show” whether she would run. She said it “is something I’m thinking about and I’ll make a decision in the coming months. I will be doing whatever it takes to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office. I think that defeating him is going to require a broad and united front of Republicans, Democrats and independents. And that’s what I intend to be part of.”

She lost by a huge margin, more than 2-to-1, 66.3% to 28.9%. Curiously, now she compares herself to Abraham Lincoln who was defeated before saving the nation as President during the Civil War, “Now the real work begins. The great original champion of our party, Abraham Lincoln, was defeated in elections for the Senate and the house before he won the most important election of all. Lincoln ultimately prevailed. He saved our union and he defined our obligation as Americans for all of history.”

Cheney was understandably mocked

Jason Rantz is a conservative radio talk host. He retorted, “Abraham Lincoln has a better shot at becoming president in 2024 than Liz Cheney. Bye Liz.”

ESPN reporter Jeannine Edwards responded with, “Liz has a very inflated view of herself.” Florida GOP Vice Chairman Christian Ziegler chimed in with, “1. Dropping ads across Wyoming against Liz Cheney was one of the most fulfilling professional tasks I have had to date in politics. 2. No chance this woman has a shot at President. Kasich 2.0 3. This should sunset the Cheneys from anymore politics. Thankfully.”

The disgust continued

Actor Dean Cain pointed out, “You’re not Abraham Lincoln, however.” Attorney Kurt Schlichter was among the sarcasm, “Yeah, you’re just like Abraham Lincoln you piece of trash.” Finally, conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey, remarked that she’s “Absolutely delusional.”

Cheney continued on the theme that Trump is dangerous,

“At the heart of the attack on January 6, is a willingness to embrace dangerous conspiracies that attack the very core premise of our nation. Our nation is barreling once again toward crisis, lawlessness and violence. No American should support election deniers at any position of genuine responsibility, where their refusal to follow the rule of law will corrupt our future. Trump knows that voicing these conspiracies will provoke violence and threats of violence. This happened on January 6, it is now happening again. It is entirely foreseeable that the violence will escalate further, yet he and others continue, purposely, to feed the danger. Lincoln and Grant and all who fought in our nation’s tragic civil war, including my own great-great-grandfathers, saved our union, their courage saved freedom. And if you listen closely, they’re speaking to us down the generations. We must not idly squander what so many have fought and died for. We must be very clear-eyed about the threat we face and about what is required to defeat it. I have said since January 6, that I will do whatever it takes to ensure Donald Trump is never again anywhere near the Oval Office. I ask you tonight to join me as we leave here, let us resolve that we will stand together, Republicans, Democrats and independents against those who will destroy our republic. They are angry and they are determined. But they have not seen anything like the power of Americans United in defense of our Constitution and committed to the cause of freedom.”
