This corrupt Democrat senator was caught in the act and now many members from his same party are calling on him to resign immediately following this massive bribery scandal. Recently, Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey was slapped with federal corruption charges for accepting bribes in exchange for favors.
Here, we have a long list of Democrats who are demanding Menendez step down from his position asap.
Democratic Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey issued a statement saying that the charges against Menendez “implicate national security and the integrity of our criminal justice system” while also conceding that Menendez is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
He went on to say that because these allegations are so serious they “compromise” Menendez’s ability to effectively represent the people of New Jersey, leading him to call for his immediate resignation.
If he does resign, Gov. Murphy would have the authority to appoint a replacement who would serve until a special election takes place at some point down the road.

LeRoy Jones called on Menendez to step down after an emergency meeting with other state party leaders stating it was necessary in order for them “to keep its focus on critical upcoming state legislative elections in November”.
Craig Coughlin, who has been serving as speaker since 2018 and is also a Democrat from Middlesex County, said that there is no room for this kind of conduct in public service which led him to call for Menendez’s resignation as well.
Democratic Reps Andy Kim and Mikie Sherrill both released statements expressing their disappointment over what had transpired and calling for his immediate resignation so that they can get closer towards understanding exactly what happened here and why these crimes were committed.
Former Rep Tom Malinowski added further emphasizing how dangerous it could be if someone like Bob Menendez was able to chair SFRC (Senate Foreign Relations Committee) while simultaneously holding onto corrupt relationships with foreign powers such as Egypt.
Lastly Rep Dean Philips appeared on CNN’s Inside Politics during which he expressed similar sentiments surrounding this situation.
It remains unclear at this time if enough pressure will eventually push Sen Bob Menendez out office.
