Jordan Peterson Furious with Canadian Court for Upholding Censoring

The Canadian Court upheld the psychologist organization trying to censor Jordan Peterson for criticizing transgender ideology, climate alarmism and his government. The College of Psychologists of Ontario has recently championed radical gender theory so Peterson’s license has been threatened over his social media comments. He has to go through a “specified continuing education or remedial program.”

Peterson disagrees

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice ordered that he pay $25,000 to that college and go through a social media education program. He’s not being punished for any patient interactions but rather because he’s said the wrong things on social media and podcasts.

Peterson will make every part of this public if he can. “So the Ontario Court of Appeal ruled that [the College of Psychologists of Ontario] can pursue their prosecution. If you think that you have a right to free speech in Canada, You’re delusional. I will make every aspect of this public. And we will see what happens when utter transparency is the rule. Bring it on.”

His offenses

Include retweeting criticism of Trudeau made by the Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre, criticizing a former Trudeau aide and opposing the Ottawa police taking the children of the Trucker Convoy protesters. Other offenses are indirect, such as saying that accepting radical gender theory is a sign of a collapsing civilization. He also thought climate change models weren’t reliable.

The court said the college needed to censor Peterson for the public interest. Judge Paul Schabas declared,

“I have concluded that the application should be dismissed. In my view, the Decision of the ICRC [Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee] adequately and reasonably considered Dr. Peterson’s statements in the context of the College’s statutory mandate to regulate the profession in the public interest.”

But then the judge said, “the order is not disciplinary and does not prevent Dr. Peterson from expressing himself on controversial topics; it has a minimal impact on his right to freedom of expression.”

Peterson will continue

This fight. He said on X that,

“The decision of an Ontario court re the allegations levied against me by [the College of Psychologists of Ontario] is due tomorrow. I stand by what I have said and done and wish them luck in their continued prosecution. They’re going to need it. I tweeted and otherwise expressed my opposition to trans surgery butchery, [Justin Trudeau] and his minions, and the lying climate apocalypse-mongers. All that’s looking pretty good from my end. And if I can’t express such opinions in Canada, I will let the world know.”

He’ll take this training and broadcast it so it’s no longer hidden. Schabas said he’s in the public view. He can’t be broadcasting his personal opinion like this.

“Dr. Peterson sees himself functioning as a clinical psychologist ‘in the broad public space’ where he claims to be helping ‘millions of people. Peterson cannot have it both ways: he cannot speak as a member of a regulated profession without taking responsibility for the risk of harm that flows from him speaking in that trusted capacity.”
