Recently, a resurfaced interview conducted with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) in February 2018 has caused an uproar among conservative lawmakers and citizens alike.
In the interview, she claimed that white men pose a greater danger to Americans than any other group of people and this statement has prompted calls for her deportation.
With tensions already high between her and conservatives due to her previous hostile comments towards Israel and U.S. foreign policy, these latest remarks have only further deepened divisions between them.
During the Al-Jazeera interview, Omar said, “I would say our country should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country.”
The responses to her comment were swift and fierce as many people called for her immediate deportation from the United States and removal from Congress while others accused her of racism against white people.

This controversy serves as yet another example of how divisive politics can become when it comes to race in this country especially when those involved have strong opinions about it.
Such inflammatory rhetoric is not acceptable regardless of who says it or what their intentions may be while pointing out that similar comments made by someone on the right would never be tolerated.
