The retrial of Danny Masterson did not go as he had hoped.
The “That’s ’70s Show” alum was facing 40 years and three charges.
He did manage to avoid one charge, but was found guilty on the other two.
Guilty!
Masterson has had a long and controversial history on this matter.
Once the door was opened a cracked, as tends to happen, it was kicked wide open.
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón stated, “Their courage and strength have been an inspiration to us all.
“While we are disappointed that the jury did not convict on all counts, we respect their decision.
“The verdicts handed down by the jury in this case were undoubtedly a difficult one to reach and we thank the jurors for their service.”
Masterson had been accused of raping three different women between 2001 and 2003.
When the charges were levied against Masterson, his attorney, Tom Mesereau stated, “Obviously, Mr. Masterson and his wife are in complete shock considering that these nearly 20-year-old allegations are suddenly resulting in charges being filed, but they and their family are comforted knowing that ultimately the truth will come out.
“The people who know Mr. Masterson know his character and know the allegations to be false.”
I guess the jury did not get that memo.
