California Governor Gavin Newsom is appointing Laphonza Butler to fill the vacant Senate seat Feinstein left when she passed away. But Butler lives in Maryland and just last year registered to vote there. Dianne Feinstein just died at the age of 90, making her the longest serving woman in the Senate. She was also one of the most corrupt Senators and considering politics today, that says a lot.

The Newsom pick

While serving on the Senate Intelligence panel it was found that Feinstein had a Chinese spy on her payroll for over 20 years. Newsom said on Meet the Press he’d pick a black woman to replace her.

Now California has the dubious distinction of having two Senators that weren’t elected. When Kamala Harris moved up Newsom had picked former California Secretary of State Alex Padilla to fill her seat. That was Padilla’s reward for steering $35 million to a firm linked with the Biden-Harris campaign in 2020.

Swimming in the swap

Padilla’s been wading in the swamp for decades and it looks like he paid for Harris’ old seat. Republicans on the House Oversight and House Administration Committees had insisted on an investigation into this and came up with funds meant for one thing directed to something else.

Padilla took grant money meant for COVID relief and channeled into into the firm linked to the Biden campaign. Political favors were done to keep power where people want it to be.

Newsom towing the Democrat line

The Republican’s investigation concluded with, “As you know, the use of HAVA funds for voter contact is a violation of the law. According to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, HAVA grants cannot be used to get out the vote or encourage voting.”

Rep. Comer spoke on Fox news, “Secretary Padilla’s decision to fast-track a no-bid contract to a pro-Biden firm raises serious ethical and legal questions and we must have answers immediately. It appears taxpayer funds were illegally allocated by Padilla’s office to enable Democrat operatives to contact voters and potentially have access to sensitive voter information.”
