Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) put a piece of legislation on the floor this week that was nothing more than statement legislation.
This is generally nothing more than a waste of time and money, but for conservatives, this one actually did serve a real purpose.
It exposed Democrats that support Defund the Police.
We Know Who You Are
The legislation was a non-binding resolution.
Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) was among those that voted against the legislation and was very vocal about its purpose.
He stated, “This resolution is nothing more than empty rhetoric designed to score political points.”
He is absolutely right, but it also to counter the attacks by Joe Biden and Democrats against Republicans, accusing them of cutting funding from police.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) added, “I resent the characterization that somehow we progressives do not support law enforcement just because we want to have accountability in our community so that Black and Brown people can walk down the street and feel safe.
“Let’s take out the references to progressives, which I take great offense to.”
Well, they don’t… they attack police and treat outlier cases as though they are the norm.
And you don’t see Republican mayors defunding police in their cities.
That is ONLY happening in Democrat-run cities.

Rep. Ken Buck (D-CO) did not hide his animosity toward police, stating, “Law enforcement as a whole has a culture of brutality that you cannot deny if you look at all of these incidents.
“Most of the protesters are calling for a complete transformation of policing.
“Jayapal said that governments should shift significant sums of money from police and place it in other community-based programs.”
Now I would say that is not exactly supportive.
