If you have never watched Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) during hearings, you have no idea what you are missing.
He is easily one of my Top 5 when he gets someone on the stand that he wants to take down.
When he had Merrick Garland in the hot seat, it was no exception, as Garland’s voice was shaking almost as much as his hands.
Dropping Bombs
During the Roe v. Wade protests at justices’ homes, not a single arrest was made.
The only arrest on record that I know of is the man that came to town to kill Kavanaugh, and he alerted police on himself.
Protesting at the home of a justice, or any judge for that matter, is illegal, yet, while US Marshals were deployed to the homes, they were clearly given a directive not to arrest anyone and allow the protests to proceed.
To that point, Cruz asked, “Have you brought a single case against any of these protesters threatening [Justice Brett Kavanaugh]? Have you brought even one?”
Garland kept trying to give a speech instead of answering the question, and Cruz kept firing right back at him in a rather epic show of legal prowess…
Cruz was hardly the only one that went after Garland like this.
Senator Lee (R-UT) served as the tenderizer, knocking Garland off his mark right before Cruz got him.
It is just a shame that we did not manage to get the Senate in the last election because Garland would be staring down the barrel of an impeachment instead of an uncomfortable day on the Hill.
