Last week, we had reported that some of the passages of Melania’s new memoir had been leaked to the media.
One of those passages offered up Melania’s support for the “My Body, My Choice” movement.
Melania doubled down on that stance after the leak, posting a video further explaining her position, and now the media is finally chiming in.
Is It Revenge?
In her new book, Melania wrote, “It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government.
“These situations with significant moral implications weigh heavily on the woman and her family and deserve our empathy. Consider, for example, the complexity inherent in the decision of whether the mother should risk her own life to give birth.”
Then she posted a video on social media, stating, “Individual freedom is a fundamental principle that I safeguard.
“Without a doubt, there is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women possess from birth. Individual freedom.”
There are more than a few pundits who believe Melania did this to try to prevent Trump from winning the White House.
We have already seen pro-lifers come out and blast her on her statements, and if Trump loses the pro-life voters, he loses this election.
For instance, Lila Rose, founder of leading pro-life advocacy group Live Action, stated, “Who is this Melania Trump, or Kamala Harris? Functionally the same exact position on abortion.”
“The View,” of course, jumped all over it, with co-host Sunny Hostin pushing the narrative that Melania did this to hurt Trump.
She stated, “I think she hates him. Okay, so we can all agree that. That’s a given. I also think that she wants to take him out.
“She does not want to be the First Lady any more. She doesn’t want to be the First Lady.
“She destroyed the Rose Garden. Who hates Christmas? Melania Trump hates Christmas. She doesn’t want to decorate for Christmas.
“She doesn’t want anything to do with him. She doesn’t want to sleep in the same room with him. She can’t tolerate him.”
Former Trump official Matt Mowers tried to soften the blow from the report, offering up a different narrative.
He stated, “In this case, Melania might have just wanted to make her position known and so that is I think the reason she did it.
“If you look at the impact it has, I think it actually in some ways helps Donald Trump, I think it makes him more relatable.
“I can tell you, I don’t agree with my wife on every issue. She agrees with me on even fewer issues and so I think this is actually pretty common.
“In fact, there’s been some studies coming out lately on the difference of men and women going to vote this year compared to 2020.
“In 2020, they’re all sitting at the kitchen table looking over each other’s shoulders filling out the ballots, this year they’re going to the polling place on their own … So I think this actually broadens Donald Trump’s appeal potentially.”
I have yet to see Trump respond to the reaction to the book, but I would bet he keeps a bit of a low profile on this, insisting that Melania is her own woman with her own views.
Trump is not scared of too many things, but he seems terrified to upset Melania.
I don’t know… do you think she is pushing this to hurt Trump, and do you think their marriage is in trouble, or is this just the media making much ado about nothing?
