Ilhan Omar DESPERATE Plea

Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) wants to have Ilhan Omar (D-MN) removed from her committee assignment.

The problem for McCarthy is that he will need a majority vote to make that happen (unlike the intelligence committee assignments).

Omar is pulling out “the card” to try to get some empathy from Republicans to fight her removal.

When in Doubt…

Omar went on CNN’s “State of the Union” this weekend to make her case.

She is claiming that the GOP is trying to silence her because she is a Muslim, which is not the case.

McCarthy has been clear that she is being removed because of her anti-Semitic comments.

On her possible removal, Omar stated, “It is politically motivated, and in some cases motivated by the fact that many of these members don’t believe a Muslim refugee, an African, should even be in Congress, let alone have the opportunity to serve on the Foreign Affairs Committee.

“I mean, I’m not making any accusations.

“I’m just laying out the facts.

“You remember Donald Trump coming into my state and saying Muslims, Somali refugees are infiltrating our country.

“You remember Marjorie Taylor Greene coming to Congress after Rashida [Tlaib] and I got sworn in and saying Muslims are infiltrating Congress.

“You remember [Lauren] Boebert saying that I was a terrorist. What did McCarthy do?

“He said, ‘she apologized, and we don’t have to worry about her Islamophobia.'”

Several Republicans have since come forward to stand against McCarthy, so this move may backfire on him.

With only 222 Republicans, he has very little wiggle room to have Omar removed.

If he cannot get the 218 votes needed, this will blow up right in his face.
