The confederacy is always a hotly debated issue in this country.

There are those that want to erase the entire confederacy from our history books.

There are others that believe we should keep it in our faces so we learn from it.

And there are others still that trace their heritage back to the confederacy and want it celebrated.

Get Rid of It

I firmly believe that if the confederacy is going to be memorialized in any way, it should be done by our military.

Many of the prominent officers of the confederacy were officers for the United States before the Civil War.

Robert E. Lee, for instance, served at West Point before fighting for the confederacy, but now all traces of him are being scrubbed, per a new order from the Pentagon.

The new order calls for all confederacy-named assets to be removed or changed to a different name.

There is one symbol that will remain, however, and that is the 29th Infantry Yin-Yang unit patch.

The symbol was chosen because the 29th was made up of both Union and Confederate soldiers after the Civil War…

This is going to be a tough pill to swallow for some, but this administration is making sure that part of history no longer exists.
