More than ever before, conservatives now seem ready to move away from Trump in terms of the future of the party.
Trump will continue to have influence, but in terms of the presidency, he is losing significant support.
This has led to more and more people coming out with little stories about Trump.
To this point, Mike Pence has deflected and always taken the high road, but not this time.
The Truth Comes Out
It would appear that Trump has poked Pence one too many times.
For all the hits that Pence has taken from Trump, he has never really said anything negative about him.
With Trump now taking on water, Pence has changed his tune, seeing an opportunity to remove Trump from the picture.
Trump called Pence a “coward” on January 6 for not blocking the certification of the election.
In reality, Pence did really not have that power, as his constitutional role is often misunderstood and misconstrued.
Regarding Trump’s words that day, Pence stated, “The president’s words that day at the rally endangered me and my family and everyone at the Capitol building.
“The president’s words were reckless, and his actions were reckless.
“It was clear he decided to be part of the problem.”
He also said that he told his daughter, “I turned to my daughter, who was standing nearby, and I said, ‘It doesn’t take courage to break the law. It takes courage to uphold the law.'”
This is, by far, the harshest thing that Pence has stated about Trump, but I have a feeling it will not be the last.
