Over the last few days, in addition to Governor DeSantis, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has been getting a lot of press.

Trump appears to be worried about him now as well, firing a warning shot veiled as a compliment this week.

It now seems apparent that friend or foe, Trump will throw shade on anyone that could possibly face him in the 2024 GOP field.

Just Dumb

I just do not understand the thinking by Trump on this.

He is determined to take down some of the best people in the party to stroke his own ego.

To that point, Trump took to Truth Social to make a comment about Youngkin.

He wrote, “Young Kin (now that’s an interesting take.

“Sounds Chinese, doesn’t it?) in Virginia couldn’t have won without me.

“I Endorsed him, did a very big Trump Rally for him telephonically, got MAGA to Vote for him – or he couldn’t have come close to winning.

“But he knows that, and admits it.

“Besides, having a hard time with the Dems in Virginia – But he’ll get it done!”

So, it would appear that anyone and everyone that has been considered a success in the Republican Party owes their career to Trump.

The first part of that tweet is just utterly disgusting and unnecessary.

Let’s not forget that Youngkin ran his entire campaign without any help from Trump, who literally came aboard in the final 24 hours when it seemed clear that Youngkin was going to win his election.

The only thing that Trump did was a phone rally, and the number of people that called in was never released, which should tell you something.

If those numbers were high, Trump would have touted them, so far all we know, it was a weak turnout that had little to no impact on the race.

Youngkin won that race because he made it about key issues in the state at the time, primarily about education.

Again, I just do not understand what Trump hopes to accomplish by attacking all these high-profile party members.

He wants to win at all costs, even if he burns down the entire Republican Party in the process.

The sad reality is that even if he does run and win the nomination, it is far from a lock that he would win the presidency, meaning he took a flamethrower to the future of the party for a reason other than to stroke his own ego.
