Woman Finds Christmas Ball at Flea Market, Accidentally Breaks It and Sees Note with an Address

Christmas miracles can happen at any time, even today. The delivery of each will be different depending on the circumstances. People have to go down different roads based on their needs and wants. A “treasure” can mean different things. For some it might be money. Others might need something more eternal, such as children. Humans have an internal need to continue into the future.

A Christmas decoration

Abbie went out shopping at a flea market in Atlanta, Georgia. Her husband Nicholas had invited his brother’s family for dinner so with company expected, she needed to pick up a couple things.

She happened across some ornaments, one of which was a silver ball tucked in a corner. The price was right so she brought it home.

The Christmas tree

Abbie put it on the tree but it didn’t stay there. It fell off and broke, revealing a hidden note. The couple wondered about it. They didn’t have much money so maybe the coordinates matched something that would help them. Abbie said, “I found this inside the Christmas ball I bought from the flea market today. Looks like some sort of treasure hunt game.” Nicholas had hope, “It’s a hidden treasure map, Abbie! Do you see these coordinates? We can find the exact location of the treasure using them. This could turn out to be a lottery for us. What if we discover gold and jewels?” Nicholas continued after Abbie’s light objections over time, “Listen, just imagine if we get the treasure. We won’t have to worry about our bills. And we can seek treatment at a better hospital for you.”

They both worked. Nicholas owned a small store, Abbie was a maid at a local motel. They wanted children but so far nothing. They may have been trying fertility treatments but those are expensive. Abbie agreed to do this hunt, “All right, honey, let’s go there. But I hope it’s worth our while.”

Searching for a Christmas treasure

A map got pulled out and it turned out the coordinates weren’t far from the address in the ball. There was enough traffic that day so it was getting late when they pulled up to an abandoned house. Nicholas noted the coordinate weren’t much further, “It’s not that far, honey. All we have to do is walk 20 steps from the house to the end of a lane where we’ll find a park, which is exactly where the treasure should be as per the coordinates.”

An old oak tree was in the center of the park. They started digging around the tree and found some buried toy soldiers. At first Abbie was upset, “Is this it? Is this what we’ve traveled so far for? I should have stopped you, Nicholas! I had a feeling this wasn’t a good idea.”

Christmas from one person to another

Abbie was interrupted by another woman’s voice, “I never imagined anyone would find it. But it appears that I was mistaken.” Paisley Morgan introduced herself.

This time Nicholas was upset, Abbie needed to calm him down. “A treasure?! Sure, woman! My wife is right. We shouldn’t have followed that crappy address inside the Christmas ball. It’s Christmas Eve, and look at the trash pile we just discovered!”

Paisley needed their attention

Nicholas started to leave when Paisley spoke up, “ONE MAN’S TRASH CAN BE ANOTHER MAN’S TREASURE! The toy soldiers you see were a Christmas gift for my grandson. Unfortunately, he could never receive them.”

Both turned around to find Paisley in tears. She apologized, “It’s okay. I don’t blame you, but don’t judge something without knowing the whole story. Anyway, you should leave. It’s Christmas Eve, and your family will be waiting for you.”

But then neither could leave

Nicholas was in tears too. His parents died when he was young so he spent a lot of time with his grandmother. This woman longed for her grandson. Nicholas apologized and held her hand in his, “I’m truly sorry for what happened before. I had no idea they were your grandson’s.”

The woman acknowledged. “If Riley were here today, he’d be exactly like you. He loved troubling me…” and she told her story.

Christmas is about joy

Just a year ago, Riley’s parents did a scavenger hunt for him since he loved geography. Notes were left inside Christmas decorations that led to an abandoned cottage.

Unfortunately Riley’s parents died in a car accident. Riley was only 10 years old. The courts deemed Paisley unfit to care for her grandchild so he was placed in an orphanage. Paisley sold some of her possessions as she was cleaning, that’s how the silver ball came to be in that flea market.

The Christmas miracle came together

All three dissolved in tears. They found the orphanage and successfully adopted Riley. Paisley joined them at their dinner and the story was told about how Riley came to be from a little silver Christmas ornament.

One man’s trash is indeed another man’s treasure. Something can seem to be insignificant to one person but everything to somebody that finds it. And miracles do still happen, even today.
