Throughout the impeachment trial in the Senate, President Trump’s lawyers have refuted the evidence brought forward by the Democrats, and eviscerated their arguments. They also brought some evidence of their own.
Everyone with even a small bit of knowledge of the Constitution knows that impeachment is meant to convict AND remove a president from office. Donald Trump is no longer president, so it should be obvious to everyone that the impeachment was an unconstitutional waste of time and taxpayer dollars.
If that’s not enough, the fact that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts, refused to take part in the trial should show how unconstitutional it truly was.
Here is BlazeTV‘s Andrew Wilkow explaining that point:
Donald Trump’s lawyer, David Schoen, also discussed the unconstitutionality of the trial, the real reasons why the Democrats are pursuing impeachment, and the obvious lie that the trial will help “unify” the country.
“This trial will tear this country apart,” said Schoen.
The trial was based on one charge: incitement of insurrection. The Democrats tried to prove that President Trump directly caused and incited the violence that occurred at the Capitol building on January 6.
“We now learn that the House managers, in their wisdom, have hired a movie company and a large law firm to create, manufacture, and splice for you a package designed by experts, to chill and horrify you, and our fellow Americans. They want to put you through a sixteen hour presentation over two days, focusing on this as if it were some sort of blood sport,” Schoen added.
Using the methods Schoen mentioned, Democrats tried to prove their case against Donald Trump. They took clips out of context, selectively edited videos, and even manipulated evidence.
Schoen showed that Democrat Representative Eric Swalwell claimed that a post retweeted by President Trump stated, “We are bringing the cavalry,” implying that Trump supporters would be showing up armed for the January 6 rally in Washington, D.C.
In fact, Swalwell either deliberately lied, or misread the tweet, which actually said, “We are bringing the Calvary,” referring not to an armed militia, but to a representation of the crucifixion of Jesus, which is a Christian symbol of peace and love.
There are several other examples of the Democrats’ lies pointed out by Trump’s lawyer in this clip:
Schoen even took the trial one step further, showing a compilation of clips of Democrat leaders doing exactly what they are accusing Trump of doing: inciting and cheering on violence.
The evidence brought forward in this trial shows that the storming of the Capitol was not incited by President Trump, as he directly stated in his speech that people should “peacefully and patriotically” march to the Capitol “to make [their] voices heard.”
Despite the mainstream media and Democrats’ insistence that they had foolproof evidence of Trump inciting an insurrection, what they really had was doctored evidence proving that they are willing to lie to the American people.
