With Stormy Daniels’ testimony now completed, Donald Trump was hoping to have his gag order adjusted.
Trump’s defense team moved last week to narrow the order so that Trump could publicly respond to Daniels’ testimony.
As expected, Judge Merchan denied the motion.
What About Free Speech
Trump has never looked at the big picture of this case, especially after the gag order was issued.
Trump violated the gag order ten times, being fined $1,000 every time, but that did not deter him.
With that record, there was no way that Merchan was going to narrow the order.
So, when the motion was made on the grounds that she had already testified and, therefore, could no longer be intimidated by anything Trump said, Merchan shot it down.
Merchan stated, “That’s just not the track record.
“The reason why the gag order is in place to begin with is precisely because of the nature of these attacks — the vitriol.”
Trump then went to Truth Social and posted, “This judge has taken away my constitutional right to free speech.
“I am the only presidential candidate in history to be gagged. They don’t want me talking.”
I said from the very outset… Trump should sit at the defense table, keep his mouth shut, and stay off Truth Social, and maybe the judge would cut him a break.
Trump is an in-your-face kind of guy, however, so that is not in his DNA, so now he is paying the price.
Even so, I would not be all that worried because Daniels appeared to do more harm to Bragg’s case than good.
If Trump is convicted, most legal pundits believe that the verdict will be overturned on appeal.
