Don Lemon isn’t just being shuffled around, this time he’s out. He tweeted out that he was stunned and he thought the network would have the decency to tell him directly. He was under the assumption he could continue but that there might be larger things at work. He was dropped from his prime time show. The only place left for him to go was out. “CNN This Morning” was their lowest rating show in history.
CNN can’t keep up
The network’s competitors outpace it for the morning shows but it’s mostly recently that the ratings have been so sour. Lemon’s revamped program was the worst in almost a decade.
“Since its Nov. 1, 2022 launch, “CNN This Morning” — hosted by Don Lemon, Poppy Harlow, and Kaitlan Collins — has drawn in the lowest viewership among adults 25-54, the key demographic for cable news, and the second-lowest total viewership among each iteration of the network’s morning programming since ‘New Day’ was launched in June 2013, according to Nielsen data,” the outlet said.

CNN should have terminated Lemon
A long time ago. He draws an astonishing 16.2% of viewers. He’s a liability now. In the first three months “New Day” was on the air the number of viewers decreased by 21%.
It doesn’t help that he berated a co-host off the air, and that’s after he “screamed” at Kaitlin Collins after an on-air incident. Lemon might not be happy with sharing on-air duties with the other two co-hosts.
Unacceptable incident
The New York Post reported,
“According to two sources with knowledge of the situation, the 56-year-old Lemon approached 30-year-old Collins following the show’s Thursday, Dec. 8 broadcast — and unloaded on her in front of staffers as he accused her of interrupting him on air. News of the explosive incident made its way up to CNN CEO Chris Licht, who is said to have been appalled by Lemon’s behavior, according to a source. A second source said a producer talked to Lemon at the behest of Licht and told the anchor to take the next day off to ‘cool off.’ Don screamed at Kaitlan, who was visibly upset and ran out of the studio.”
The night after the incident the three of them were scheduled to go out after for drinks and a White House Christmas party but that never happened. After the party Lemon had a late night dinner with his agent.
