It just never seems to end with the attacks against current and former Trump operatives.
The latest to fall victim to a weaponized DOJ is Dimitri Simes, a former Trump adviser on policy.
Simes appears to be targeted because he is a Russia native, but this goes much deeper than that.
Another Raid
If the name sounds familiar, you probably read through the Mueller Report on Russian collusion.
Simes name as well as the Center for the National Interest were both mentioned in the report dozens of times.
Simes has actually been in the American political world dating back to the Richard Nixon administration, where he was brought in as a foreign policy adviser for Nixon.
Simes served the same role for Trump, and while he was mentioned in the Mueller report, he and the Center were cleared of any wrongdoing in regard to Russian collusion
On the raid, Simes stated, “My suspicion is that instead of trying to get me to come to the United States and to interrogate me — or even to arrest me — their real purpose is to make sure that I would not come back.”
He continued, “A number of prominent Americans were subjected to searches or even put in jail, or made bankrupt.
“So, this is the way American law enforcement is working today?
“If somebody goes against the political mainstream, in particular against the Biden administration, the punishment may be very swift.”
Now, as far as we know, Simes has not been considered a suspect in any illegal matters, but you just never know these days.
And because this is an active investigation, the FBI will not comment on why it raided his home.
Is there something afoot here, or is this just Wray and Garland whipping up another negative headline to attack Donald Trump?
Hopefully, we will know soon because I imagine Trump is unhappy about this latest development.
