Now that the verdict is in for the hush-money case, Donald Trump needs to appeal.
Normally, this would go through the appellate court, then the State Supreme Court, and finally, if necessary, the Supreme Court.
Trump is now hoping the Supreme Court will bypass the lower courts and help him with the hush-money verdict.

Trump made his plea to the Supreme Court on Truth Social, posting, “The ‘Sentencing’ for not having done anything wrong will be, conveniently for the Fascists, 4 days before the Republican National Convention.
“A Radical Left Soros backed D.A., who ran on a platform of ‘I will get Trump,’ reporting to an ‘Acting’ Local Judge, appointed by the Democrats, who is HIGHLY CONFLICTED, will make a decision which will determine the future of our Nation?
“The United States Supreme Court MUST DECIDE!”
I have read a lot of opinions on this, such as Mark Levin who believes Trump’s legal team needs to file immediately with the Supreme Court.
However, based on polling, I lean toward those who say Trump should just go through the regular appeals process here.
After all, Trump’s polling has improved, so the verdict did not hurt him like most thought.
Plus, if he goes to the Supreme Court, Trump only has one shot at reversing the ruling.
I would rather take my shot in the lower courts, especially after seeing how most legal experts believe the verdict will be overturned during the appeals process.
Not only that, but Trump needs to drag this out as long as possible, so there is no need to rush this.
Even if Trump is sentenced to jail, which is highly unlikely, it is doubtful that Merchan would order the sentence to be enforced until after the appeals process played out.
I just cannot imagine him being willing to risk allegations of election interference on behalf of Democrats by ordering the sentence to be enforced until Trump has exhausted all other options for appeal.
