Elizabeth Warren, the Massachusetts Democrat against crypto currency, has more than a dozen crypto executives fighting against her.
They want the Republican, John Deaton, to unseat her. Deaton tweeted out that he received $1.2 million in contributions in 42 days, cash on hand.
Unseating Warren will be tough but not impossible. Influential crypto investors are pushing for the change they want with their pockets.
The digital currency can go places
Deaton is a former US Marine and digital currency lawyer. Some of his contributions came from Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss of Gemini, crypto-convert Mark Cuban, CEO and founder of Chamber of Digital Commerce Perianne Boring and two Ripple executives.
Although the amount is significant he has a ways to go. Warren has “$4.4 million cash on hand, and after we file our report, the big money interests that protect her will undoubtedly start spending money to attack me.”
The currency based on freedom
Politico doesn’t think Deaton stands a chance. “Deaton has virtually no chance of unseating Warren in deep-blue Massachusetts. But that’s not stopping crypto proponents from personally spending to boost him — and potentially blunt their Capitol Hill adversary.”
There’s a number of crypto based PACs with over $80 million working toward crypto friendly politicians and against those that want further regulation. Two Democrat Senators, one in Ohio, the other in Montana, are two that are critical of crypto.
Digital currency was never meant to be politicized
But that’s exactly what happened. Democrats want the industry regulated more. Republicans want minimal government intrusion.
Scaramucci spoke with Politico. “Elizabeth Warren represents all of the worst things about American politicians. It’s no longer about what’s right or wrong for the country, but what’s hard left. So we’re going to work our hardest to spend as much money as we can and raise as much money as we can to defeat her.”
