This week, the trial of David DePape started.
If you do not recognize the name, that is the man who attacked Paul Pelosi, the husband of Nancy Pelosi, in his home.
To this point, Pelosi has not really discussed the attack, and now we know why.
Gasp…
Court members were shown the full bodycam footage of the attack, which was far worse than we had seen in the public videos.
Last October, DePape broke into the Pelosi home, then got into a struggle for his hammer as police were arriving.
As Pelosi opened the door, DePape got the advantage, took the hammer, then proceeded to strike Paul Pelosi in the head.
The court members saw the unedited footage, which showed Pelosi lying on the ground with blood gushing from his head.
There was a collective gasp in the courtroom as the video played out.
Pelosi described the attack, stating, “The door opened and a very large man came in with a hammer in one hand and some ties in the other and he said, ‘Where’s Nancy’ as I think that woke me up.
“I’m asleep and he bursts in the door and that woke me up.
“It was a tremendous shock to recognize that somebody had broken into the house and looking at him and looking at the hammer and the ties, I recognized that I was in serious danger, so I tried to stay as calm as possible.”
He added, “It’s a year later and I’m trying to put it out of my mind.”
As much as most of us despise the Pelosis, I think we can all understand how Paul Pelosi was hesitant to relive that day.
